i got a mac and an iphone
you save tons of time getting a lot of caps with NO setup.
with a mac you can dual boot with the bonus: it OS/X supports all hardware and is licensed. yet booting to win10 is supported.
i have ssh working between them. El Capitan is slightly BSDish, has a small to medium unix (ie, bash) installed. X11.app is no longer pre-isntalled but available.
you will loose time on migration (not required) or interoperability (assuming your linux or bleeding edge BSD - you'd need to make emulators or dual boots all that - which takes time)
if you want a sexy thing that works with your iphone, has free Xcode to make apps for iphone or imac or ???, get one. used, refurb - even new prices are competitive with PC if you go to (ie microcenter) and compare component by component what is in the thing: SAME PRICE
if you want andriod - well dont get one then
i'm unsure of iMac HCL for linux or BSD (there is some compat)
it's more like pick your poison - and that depends wholey on what the device is being used for. mine is for "connectivity and social" as my linux box is fine already where i want it for (some years till next update)
that's my ad, good luck!
