I might be in the minority, but I actually like the show.

It's just that anytime I see them using Kali I let out a very audible sigh... I just know I'm going to come on here the next day and see something in the Newbie forum like:

Kali is actually a very good tool if you're using it right.
Unlike others it only bundles the basics without adding "dangerous" scripts as others do.
Further more it's both Debian based and semi supported (you'll find many Debian people in their core team).

What I don't get is why it's suddenly used as a script-kiddie tool.
It's meant as an educational tool and doesn't even offer the "easy-cracking" stuff for modern systems (all of its examples are based on old and already fixed Window XP flaws and the Metasploit Framework).

use the best tool for the job with keeping in mind your experience in debian or rhel or slackware camps

kali on a usb is fun to play around with , BUT!!!! if you have to ask basic linux questions then one should really NOT be trying to use it

using Kali is like making a night landing on a carrier in rough seas

I was never a script kiddie. When I was a kiddie, there was no such thing. Scripts were things actors read from.

I can say, though, that, when I was a kiddie, I did not always research things thoroughly before I did them, like driving 100 mph on country roads late at night and TPing my 10th Grade English teacher's front yard (I am still glad I did that, too).

I doubt kiddies have changed all that much over the years.

If you do, do so with a copy of the Linux Voice tutorial I mentioned above at your knee. It was a nice job of work.

Well yes, kids will always be kids.

Being a kid (in what's starting to look like a different time dimension), I did stupid things as well (and sadly got caught a few times).
... however ... I did took the time to learn the correct tools (in those days, cracking a system mostly meant using something silly as (a modified) telnet, security was almost non-existing).

Did the speeding thing as well.
Bought a Vespa "Special", knowing I could just remove a screw to make it 4 times faster (their engines where originally made for highway bikes).

Kali isn't and will never try to be a malicious cracking tool.
It's a zillion times easier to use existing and publicly available scripts for whatever system you're using.

PS: Just watched some episodes from that MrRobot show, and his most used "cracking" tool appears to be plain old wget.
IMHO, their seem to be many people using a fictional tv show to sell books(even O'Reilly) and other media, abusing Kali for something it simply can't do.

for bulk download of image data from cassini or MRO "wget" is the best tool to grab a few hundred images from the PDS archive

How might I politely/properly say: "not here" to like this (plus: Simply Goo...: kali cellphone)
I suspect that referring them to #11&#12 here (&#13!) wouldn't be 'ok'.
