The end of the internet
Might a day come when the internet no longer exists because humans have raised our consiousness to a level where instead of searching google you access with your mind the universal database of all knowledge also known in ancient texts as the akashic records or akashic library?

You're in India I see, and the term "akashic" has Sanskrit roots, it is said that India is where the phenomenon was first documented. It can currently be experienced during some out-of-body experiences, with a little help from specially crafted binaural sounds that cause the brainwaves to lower to around 7 Hz.

Yes I am in India, and I did learn some Sanskrit while at school for couple of years but that was just basic and it is it about sanskrit and me.

Haha. Good point. Also television makes us dumber or less active/innovative.
I believe that the key factor in the future will NOT be technology, but people developing their psychic abilities. Making google as obsolete as the entire internet. Psi is becoming more and more common, appearing as freak coincidences at first, but in the long term we will all develop such abilities to the full.

Heck, you mean there is a universal database ?!?! Think again.
A human mind can access that database (?). IMHO the human mind is not designed to know all. We know and understand things in part and we can never know everything about anything.
Would such a day come? I bet not.
PS :- Imagine the consequences - you knowing 'everything' (secrets) of a person.
There is science and there is pseudo-science. Things like these would be pseudo-science.
The brainwave is something I am not familiar with - if someone could enlighten me...

Great, just when I thought LQ would be my refuge from this kind of stuff...
My mom believes in stuff like this, too. I'm not so sure if it's quite to this degree, but she's one of those "spiritual" types who believes there's some kind of "great enlightenment" coming soon.
Gets on my nerves at times. I won't rant about it here though, that'll be something for my blog.

The brainwave is the solid part of it, it is observed in encephalographs. People are having out-of-body experiences as a result of brainwave entrainment, in response to binaural sound.
But obe's do not always occur as a result of this, there seem to be subconscious obstacles that we all have against it. These can be surpassed, and then people can tell you what SilverBack was doing and saying yesterday in a meeting with his boss say. I mean there is scientific evidence that the obe is real and not just imagination. This is too obvious to the one having the experience, and also obvious to external observers that simply compare what the obe'er saw with what the observer knows really happened.
Such research is suppressed because it is a threat to control religions, plus a threat to secret agencies, the powers that be. The whole control system will collapse if enough people exercise their psi muscle, and we will be free. THe current system is not sustainable anyway, you can't keep throwing hardware in dumps forever.

Quite true... but if you know "the game", ( Google's... ) then you can devise your own strategy and counter that "game"... not Google itself, but Google's effect on yourself... this is very much like Chess...
Despite the fact that i use Google sometimes.. I am not addicted, nor dependent on Google...
I have a vast library with "paper" books, which i have read can can still pick whenever i need to retrieve some knowledge back...
I could perfectly live without Google...
Their aim is to weaken you... while your aim is to be stronger... so FIGHT, and WIN...

Brainwaves are patterns which emerge in an Electro Encephalographic Registry of the electric activity of your ( anyone's ) brain... generally they are the sign of large scale synchronization activity involving several functional units in the Brain... the Amygdala, PreFrontal Cortex, Cerebellum, Hypothalamus, primary and secondary sensorial and motor centres... etc.
At a local scale, communication is made between neurons propper using synaptic connections, where the neurotransmitters are released in the synaptic gap, between the synamps termination and the neuron's body, this is a chemical comunication; at larger scales, the communication occurs through electric depolarization of the axon's fiber, triggering the release of neurotransmitters in the axon's end.
This is what causes the signals which are retrieved by an Electro Encephalographic scan.
AKA Brain Waves.

You forgot that when cells fire is not when the potential exceeds a fixed and accurate value but it is random, it is a quantum effect. It's like an interface to subatomic effects. Why cells fire at a given moment and not microseconds later nobody knows. Yet it is the timing that gives rise to emergent behaviours, as well as the structure. Like ants having very simple rules of behaviour yet the whole colony is capable of knowing where to place everything, where the queen, where the faeces, where the stores, etc.
It is this quantum randomness that spirit consciousness is said to be biasing in one direction or another. And when this happens, thoughts are experienced. Ie spirit exists with or without the physical body, and that is exactly what is experienced in obe's.
Crucially, even if you (incorrectly) assume there were no randomness but full determinism in the brain, you'd still be offering no explanation why experiments show a trained obe'er can tell what picture you have in your bedroom, or what you were saying the other day in a private meeting with someone.

Conclusion: "free will" is an illusion. cantab was right:

Yes, I'm referencing a months-old thread that probably nobody else cares about anymore (and was closed for sanity reasons).
Thanks for the wonderful fun-fact reminder.
@cantab if you can read this please just don't post. For the love of all that is, don't post...you've already given me enough to agonize about.

Ulysses, present your evidence. Lots of assertions do not a reasonable discussion make. And quoting the assertions and anecdotes of others doesn't constitute evidence.
I hope you realize that many, many hospital operating rooms around the country have signs posted on the top of cabinets and in locations where they cannot be seen from the floor, specifically to test the many claims of out of body experiences by people who approach death on the operating table. No one doubts the accuracy of the claims made by these people, but many people doubt the actuality of the perceived out of body experience, and the signs are there just waiting for someone to claim an out of body experience and then tell what the signs say. So far, no one has.

I was establishing the S/N ratio of the main patterns in Brainwaves...
The so called "thermal" noise is very hard to analyze for specific behavioral trends...
This would call for "heavy artillery" math techniques like neural network mappings, neuro fuzzy clustering nethods to extract semantic ( intelligible ) rules out of raw data, with a propper preprocessing using ARMA-k ( Auto Regressive Moving Average of k order ) or Box-Jenkins time series analysis... a bit... "complicated" IMHO ...
