Do you believe fascism is as inbred as racism? I would think so; but, is that ia bad as any opinion ever or could we not exist without them?

Someday, someway:
just the facts are what we agree on ma'am... eat our veggies! :D

Accepting your own mortality is like eating your*vegetables: You may not want to do it, but it's good for you. ...

Some of my favorites below (sorry if they are repeats - thread is too long at this point).

"Some will die in hot pursuit in fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit while sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life and drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche comin' down the mountain" - from the lyrics to "Pepper" by the Butthole Surfers

"90% of everything is crap." - Theodore Sturgeon

"The first thing we do, let's kill all the lawyers". - the Bard of Avon

"Three can keep a secret, if two of them are dead." - Benjamin Franklin

Alexis de Tocqueville

Tocqueville noted that the power of the majority, not just politically, but also socially at the heart of democracy could become a form of tyranny greater than the most ruthless despotism in European monarchy. While a king’s power was physical only, a democratic majority could control thought itself.

But Tocqueville also provided a remedy for demands that everyone conform to their whims and repeat their mantras.

Quote:

I know only one way of preventing men from degrading themselves,
namely, not to give anybody that omnipotence which carries with it sovereign
power to debase them.

Black people have/had to fight to hold patents...

Skin color is not an opinion, it's science!

Laws are opinions (or obvious with 1/2 a sense) but ideas are free even if we need to liberate them!

Richard Stallman: "Political correctness threatens to put the word “master” under taboo regardless of the meaning. Opposing slavery and racism does not require that we blot out every word that had a use in relation to slavery or racism."

well as you mentioned Richard Stallman, here is another one :
Quote:

[[[ To any NSA and FBI agents reading my email: please consider ]]]
[[[ whether defending the US Constitution against all enemies, ]]]
[[[ foreign or domestic, requires you to follow Snowden's example. ]]]

Running an unauthorized copy of Windows still gives Microsoft power
over you. So I say: an unauthorized copy of Windows is a very bad
thing -- almost as bad as an authorized copy ;-{.

Slackware GNU/Linux has two flaws.
1. It contains nonfree programs.
See https://gnu.org/distros/.

2. The developers call it "Slackware Linux" which is unfair to the GNU Project.
See https://gnu.org/gnu/linux-and-gnu.html and
https://gnu.org/gnu/gnu-linux-faq.html, plus the history in
https://gnu.org/gnu/the-gnu-project.html.

These are not actual quotes, but sometimes I stumble upon a term that neatly expresses something very complex, something I would need a whole paragraph to explain, in 2 or 3 words.
Some of these concepts are of great yet easily overlooked importance in our modern world, and so I have started collecting them:
