Just switched off a lot of intrusive stuff in Yahoo
Under the new European data laws, they have to give you the right to opt out of "personalised" ads. I asked for a list of the firms they shared my data with and it ran on for pages. I painstakingly unchecked all of them. Now I suppose I will only get "unpersonalised" ads, but I find those less intrusive.
I was also asked if I wanted to opt out of Yahoo reading my emails. In fact the only emails I have in that system are from organisations that insist on an email address and send mostly spam. I don't use it for any communications that matter to me. But I still don't like the idea of Yahoo reading them, so of course I said yes and was told that now I can't get special holiday offers any more. Boohoo! (Actually I've never noticed any!)
