Humans are either the virus or the answer? Luckily we make it up as we go!

All not some...

Add: either way we are same as clones.

jamison20000e 05-22-2020 01:21 PM

1 + 1 = 2
2 - 1 = 2
&c.
Can be done infinite ways, none can limit that! Why try, ego, greed,,?

Add: must think they're doing god's work...

Leaving us to spread the virus of open source!?.

"free software" (remember that?), perhaps not... "open washing" springs to mind...

jamison20000e 05-22-2020 03:05 PM

All streams flow to freedom. In fact the virus I brought to mind was from the corporate definition of a GPL.

jamison20000e 05-23-2020 08:49 AM

Seems we can makeup (follow or not) and interpret definitions anyway we want, average corporate minds and laws define the general public as a virus or at the very least sheep to be heard(-no pbun for that shank sandwich).

Seeing as how I was 1st in this thread.

Plus I find it amusing folks assign personalities to their crescent wrenches and channel locks.
Which is what I consider applications are on a computer.

I can say Microsoft has not supplied anything since initial install so far. Good thing I know the power of the hash tag in /etc/apt/sources.list.d .

I control what my tools do., They don't control me, soooooo much >> being honest.

Really? How many of them have you modified yet? Or do they all fit your needs very well? Have you considered submitting a feature request to Microsoft so their tools do what you need as well?

jamison20000e 05-24-2020 03:38 PM

I know mechanics; they'll often cut the end off of an open end wrench, reangle it and weld it back on, if need be.

No one's gonna be like, let's fire up the foundry to make an already mass-produced wrench...

Aren't you a developer or a 7 year old girl?

According to SlashData, the number of Python developers was 7 million in 2018. Nowadays, Python is gradually getting closer to Java in terms of popularity (source).

If more devices run Linux then more people develop with free software... ;)

It seems like they’re cooperating with Chocolatey. I would assume that there will be a review process in place.

But who's reviewing whom? I had come to trust Chocolatey. But now if M$ is getting in there, I feel as if I might have to start to worry.
I wonder if Chocolatey will be required to stop supporting what they've released after it's been GA for more than 30 days?

Yup I was waiting on this post ;) From the dev view point Google wins easy. One time $25 fee vs a recurring $100 fee. But seriously, both stink...bad.

From a user view point google has a lot of junk but there's also reputable apps. If somebody is careless, no iOS will solve that.

For the most part apps need to ask permission before doing anything sensitive although underneath them Apple and Google do not.

Also iOS probably wouldn't run on my $15 phone :D But none the less I want to ditch A*****d asap. I HATE Google!!!

Do you HATE Google for Google, or for A*****d?

Speaking for myself, both.

Actually, all the downsides of A******d I see are a result of google being google, so I should have said "the former".

google. I've got several development devices running LineageOS without gapps or any hardware manufacturer bloatware on it. I really do not like the Android platform, period, but if one removes all google trash it's a little more bearable.

Back when Android was done by "Android, Inc" I had a good deal of hope for it. But with what google has done to it, and especially trying to transition from developing for Android before AndroidX and Jetpack, versus after, at the very least I feel the documentation could have been handled a fair amount better.
