Having install probmems with Fedora 5 with iso cd's.

Hello Guys...

I'm tring agin to install Fedora 5 on a ECS Nforce 3/250 board with 2x 256 pc3500 kingston ram, 9250 ATI 128 Meg agp card, 120 gig Maxtor hard drive, Sepron 2600 overclocked to 2ghz.. NEC 3550A cdr/w

The first time I got it intsalled it took for ever with the 5 iso cd's I made.

It would hang at the office development and other software to add point..
After 8 or 10 times and chooseing extra software to install, it finally proceded..

I followed Stantons Finley guide on Fedora 5 using Yum.

It was working pretty good until I tried the ATI driver install when It finally caused X not to start.

I tried a fresh reinstall again with the Fedor 5 5 cd's I made, and it keeps on hanging at that same point on disk 1..Everything passes and checks out..

I don't want to give up.

I tried downloading the DVD ISO of Fedora 5, but it will say it's like 3 gig on the server and where I download it from, but when it's done loading to my hard dirve in Xp, it says it's only like a gig and a half or so..

Not sure how to burn ISO DVD with nero, so I chose ISO/Dvd or something like that and it burnt the dvd and I can see files on it, but have not checked it out. I'll try again tonight.

Also, could my problem be that I'm overclocking with this motherboard?

I had a lot of post in here with the problems I was having and I appreciate all the responsed I got back..

I want to try it again, so If I'm taken by the hand, mybe I can get it insalled again..

Thanks so much..

Then Windows XP is not able to download the file correctly, it should be about 3-gigs in size when downloaded;

You might want to use something like wget for Windows;

http://xoomer.virgilio.it/hherold/

Code:
wget ftp://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/core/5/i386/iso/FC-5-i386-DVD.iso

I was having problems installing Fedora 5 with the iso cds and my NEC3550A.
I put my old NEC 2500A and reinstalled Fedora 5 with out problem...

I also downloaded " Download Accellerator" and was able to get a correct size of Fedora 5 iso for Dvd...

Have not burned it as of yet....

Mitch

Thanks.

Driver for NEC 3550A for Fedora

Hi all,

I am trying to install Fedora core 5.

I have a NEC 3550A and its not being read. I do not have its drivers.
Can anyone point me to a place from where I can get them and try them?
Thank!
