If you do not have your /home on a separate partition from /root and its other subdirectories, I doubt that you will be able to upgrade, especially considering the distance from Fedora v. 32 to v. 36. If that is the case, you will need to back up the contents of /home to external media and install new. Even if you do have a separate /home partition, it would be wise to back up the contents of /home in any event, because stuff can always go wrong in an upgrade.
