Unhappy up2date won't connect just freezes

I am new to FC2 as of 10/07/04

My Linux experience started with Mandrake 9.1 and is currently at 9.2. I have had good results with 9.2. I have not had any success getting 10.0 or 10.1 to run properly and now I am giving Fedora Core 2 a test run.

Having trouble getting up2date to connect to the RHN, it starts to connect and just freezes.

I am still getting familiar with the differnce between Mandrake and Fedora.

Any ideas what could be causing it?

In the past, with up2date, I had some success by changing the mirrors in /etc/sysconfig/rhn/sources .. - however, the preferred option is to use YUM now - for an introduction to YUM, check out:

For me I can almost NEVER USE THE UP2DATE GUI!!! As you can see it really bugs me. So I open a terminal and type
sudo up2date -u --nox
It will perform an update within the console, and tell the gui to piss off. Pardon my language.

I used this link.

Yum is real cool. Everything eventually was updated.

Thanks,

Install apt and Synaptic as well for good measure.
