After running YUM system doesn't boot

I have been running FC4 for few weeks. Everything was working fine untill today when I ran yum check-update and then yum update. After updates were done, I restarted the system, and it goes upto SWAP FILE OK, and then freezes. I have used YUM in past for updates without any problems, I need to know how can I repair the installation or reverse the changes that YUM made.

Thank you.

Did it install a new kernel? Can you try to boot an older kernel?

Yes, it worked

I was able to boot with the old kernal and have the GUI. However now my e-mail server is not working. I am using squirel mail, and getting IMAP error for 'Access denied'. Should I run yum again?

brian,

I got it working for me. What I did was install the kernel update first and then I installed the rest of the updates. Try this:

Code:
yum upgrade kernel
Then reboot

then

Code:
yum upgrade
hope that helps.
