Unable to install openjdk-6/7-jre on Jessie

Hi,

openjdk-6/7-jre install fails after apt-get clean, update and dist-upgrade:

Code:
LANG=en_US.UTF-8 apt-get install openjdk-7-jre
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
 openjdk-7-jre : Depends: openjdk-7-jre-headless (= 7u79-2.5.5-1~deb7u1) but it is not going to be installed
                 Depends: libjpeg8 (>= 8c) but it is not installable
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.
Installing libjpeg62-turbo:amd64/i386 doesn't solve the problem. Does anyone have an idea?

Thanks in advance,
Paul

Which version of Debian are you using?

Please post the output of:
Code:
cat /etc/apt/sources.list
ls /etc/apt/sources.list.d
LC_ALL=C apt-cache policy
EDIT: Sorry, you're using Debian Jessie -- be aware that the libjpeg8 package has been dropped from the repositories.

It just so happens that I backported the Sid version to Jessie a few days ago.

Here it is:
http://s000.tinyupload.com/download....87543569976578

Install the .deb using gdebi or:
Code:
# dpkg -i libjpeg8_8d1-2\~bpo70+1_amd64.deb

Thanks for having backported the missing package. Everything works fine...

I wish I could find your .deb in the jessie-backports repository!

I may try doing an "official" backport of it and offer it up...

Indeed, my security sources.list needed to be changed (wheezy -> jessie). libjpeg8 no longer necessary.
