can't startx

when i boot up my debian box, i log in

ok, successful login

a whole bunch of code scrolls across and then

anyone know what happened?

i did a netinstall - i installed the Graphical User Interface and Webserver categories

Without looking into this much further because I'm a little tired, I would wonder what running SAX or SAX2 would do to help the problem. Just a thought.

It's the name of the program. Just type "sax" or "sax2".
I think it stands for SuSE something Xwindow or something...

Look for the xserver log file for more (E) errors.

Hi, i've got problems whit X too, only, that mine "error" is: "This version of xfree86 has been extensively modifies by the debian project, and is not superted by the xfree86 project in any way"

I tried to reconfigure X, but it didn't make eny difference...

which version ? sarge or etch ? Did you try to reconfigure X ?

dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86 for sarge

xorconfig for etch

now how do i change my screen resolution? it won't go higher than 800x600 in the KDE control panel
