CentOS v.5 Crash During Update - I'm Lost
I WAS updating system software through the desktop GUI, and experienced a power outage after the download of packages and during the actual instal phase.
Powering up, I get:
Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(0,0)
Pod: 1, comm: swapped Not tainted 2.6.32-573.3.1.e16.I686 #1
And then 7 rows of "Call Trace" data.
I decided to pop the DVD in and reboot, dut while the drive seemed to be doing something, the screen remained black as the drive wheeered away.
I'd much like to recover rather than rebuild.
Bad disc? Bad drive?
Any thoughts? At this level I'm basically a nube.
- Thanks!
