I have an older laptop ASUS X5DC which I want to use for Bodhi. I've downloaded the latest 4.5.0. legacy build, and converted it to bootable USB.

Booting into the LIVE environment - everything works great - Wifi, Sound, and Video GFX set to 1024x768.

After Bodhi is installed using the Live environment, and the laptop is rebooted - the video mode defaults to 640x480 for some reason?

Spec is:-

Processor: Intel Celeron D220 Processor (1.5GHz) RAM: 3GB RAM Hard Drive: 250GB SATA Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64Bit

Screen: 15.6"
Screen Graphics: SiS Mirage 3 (128MB Dedicated)

I understand that this laptop has the SIS 671/771 Video which is broken in many Linux Distros.

Is there any way I can get this working as it does perfectly when booted into Live?

Help please.

NEARLY SOLVED THIS... Not sure why, but it was using fbdev driver over VESA?

Installed VESA drivers
asus@asus-K50C:~$ sudo apt-get install xserver-xorg-video-vesa

Re-configured X
asus@asus-K50C:~$ Xorg -configure

Copied the newly created xorg.conf.new from (user's home) /home/asus/xorg.conf.new to /etc/X11/xorg.conf

asus@asus-K50C:~$ sudo cp /home/asus/xorg.conf.new /etc/X11/xorg.conf


Rebooted the laptop - and now working in 1024x768 @ 61Hz

Tried to install bodhilinux legacy 5.0.0rc on eeepc 2g surf (screen resolution 800x480) and found that bottommost buttons of the installer are obscured by status bar. Can installer run in full-screen and hide the status bar somehow? May be I should force bodhi to work in 640x480 mode on boot?

You can easily move the installer window upwards a bit to get the buttons visible:
While holding ALT, click somewhere in the window and drag it as far as needed.

IIRC the default resolution for the 2G Surf is limited to 640 x 400 (not 480)
Bodhi comes with arandr (menu>applications>preferences) that makes choosing a new resoloution fast and easy.
