BL 5.0 32 bit - only "Workspace" in my home folder ? What?

After installing BL5.0-32 bit on my old 10''-netbook, I also installed...

sudo apt update && sudo apt dist-upgrade

... and ...

sudo apt install bodhi-apppack screenfetch lolcat

To add the screenfetch info and, using lolcat, some colour to terminal, I wanted to edit the .bashrc, so I wanted to open my home folder, but there was nothing inside but a folder called "Workspace".

What's the problem now, and how can I fix it, please?

What does this command issued from a terminal in ~/ tell you?

Nevertheless, you likely will not find a .bashrc file present. In just about every distro I've used, if you want a .bashrc file so as to override the default profile settings, you will likely need to create one.

Sorry, I cannot show you the output of that command right now,
because I gave up on Bodhi 5 and switched to Xubuntu 18.04 LTS.
Maybe, I'll give it another try some time later.

Usually, the .bashrc (a hidden file in your home folder) is present on all Ubuntu based distros.
What I was trying to do is to add the following line at the end of the file:

screenfetch | lolcat

This would have given me some system information on top of the terminal with some kind of rainbow colours.

Maybe, there's something wrong with the ISO of Bodhi 5, because something went wrong while downloading it.
I guess, next time, I'll try a new download of the ISO.

I just gave BL5.0 another try on my little 32 bit netbook.

Again, in my /home there's nothing but a folder named Workspace and some hidden folders and files (see code block, please).

Here's the output of ls -a

Let me add, I took the legacy version of the ISO to install.

Where are the ordinary folders, like Pictures, Documents, Downloads, Music, Public, Desktop, Videos and Templates?

just right click and create your own. no biggie.

man you and a few others seem to be having so many issues. i had a few since i started bodhi years ago but not that many - and basically i could not imagine anything else working as nicely as this. and yes i have tried some. they are full of issues or just seem way to weird and mssed up and also way too much like windows. i am not sure why some of you have all of these glitches. strange. and no i am not a techi linux guy though i wish - i am just a user and enjoy it immensely.

if you scroll down to the 14th comment in the linked thread, Stefan (@the_waiter) explains this issue. tl;dr version is to run

and then execute this command which is a part of xdg-user-dirs:

when i did that in my bodhi 5.0 installation, originally i had some permission issues so i had to chown a few folders in order to be able to write to them. just in case that comes up

I did the two commands, but actually, I needed only the 2nd one,
because the package was installed already. Only the update command was missing.
Now the missing folders are there.
