if anyone feels the way i felt about the original linux distro(i'm using fedora)login screen,which was eventually very boring than it is very help to change your login screen.
to change your login screen first make sure that the image which you want to put as login screen is located in...
.....because you will not be able to access your home folder when switching to new login screen...
then follow these commands
1)login as root in the terminal
2)then input command
3)then input command
this will pop up system settings and then you can choose background(which is now login screen background).
Logout to check...
4)also input command

i tried that and it didn't survive the reboot, unless i did something different or else our systems are different i run FC 14

dEnDrOn hey I didn't realize you had put a solution up it was in a different thread (uncategorized).
I'm on a fc14 64, I admit I have been tweaking the heck out of it (screwing with it and very possible why your solution isn't working on mine.
