What's happening?

I have not posted to the blog here, from what the entries indicate, in over SIX years.
I tend to read and write a lot more Email, and I've also participated in news groups and forums for decades, preceding many of the collections of information, news, and collaboration, and probably before over half of the current generation of frequent social media participants were born.
I'm still very active in technology, but as you might expect, the things that occupy my time change over time with jobs, family, and interests.
In all of that time, I have continued to monitor, and occasionally contribute to the Linux Questions Linux Forum, and once in a while, I'll peruse the Android Forum as well.
So what DO I do with my time? Professionally, I'm a software tester. I've been a Test Manager, Test Lead, and Agile Test Analyst. My current position involves agile development and testing, but I'm the primary test engineer on a long term project where I work, so the role leverages the experience in test management and agile testing. My direct involvement is to test and retest development code each sprint, and ultimately to determine deployment readiness of the software our team produces.
The back end server environment that our application uses runs on Linux servers.
Most of my Linux-related activities still take place at home. Debian-based systems continue to dominate on my laptop systems, but I have also owned phones, tablets, and a couple of Chromebooks, and these at least contain Linux-based kernels driving their operation, but a wide variety of user interfaces.
Back when I last wrote a blog here, MEPIS was still an active distribution. The creator of MEPIS now works primarily in financial circles in patent-related services, but fortunately the MEPIS Lovers Community has been strong and they have quite a few alternatives to the original MEPIS, now being developed from the antiX project - which has three distinct variations of antiX plus a somewhat lighter desktop descendant of MEPIS called MX that is based on the Xfce desktop. MX-16 is the current release, and I find myself using it when I only have time to use the computer as "a user", rather than a developer or tester. MX-16 is very stable, relatively modest in resource use, and it has enough software to provide an excellent system to use for primarily Web-based Email, forum browsing, and on line shopping.
