Understand command lparstat -i CPU capacity

Hi buddies,

I need your help to understand an output of the command "lparstat -i" from a LPAR. As we can see, this LPAR is configured as Uncapped and Shared. I need to know, how many vCPUs this LPAR will can use, in a case of the others LPARs are not using the vCPUs from the pool. Can I consider the value 64 as the maximum vCPUs that the LPAR will can use or it will only can get to 1 vCPU?

Thanks for the help.

Node Name : lpar001
Partition Name : lpar001
Partition Number : 49
Type : Shared-SMT
Mode : Uncapped
Entitled Capacity : 0.21
Partition Group-ID : 32817
Shared Pool ID : 0
Online Virtual CPUs : 1
Maximum Virtual CPUs : 64
Minimum Virtual CPUs : 1
Online Memory : 6144 MB
Maximum Memory : 8192 MB
Minimum Memory : 3072 MB
Variable Capacity Weight : 190
Minimum Capacity : 0.10
Maximum Capacity : 256.00
Capacity Increment : 0.01
Maximum Physical CPUs in system : 256
Active Physical CPUs in system : 255
Active CPUs in Pool : 255
Shared Physical CPUs in system : 255
Maximum Capacity of Pool : 25500
Entitled Capacity of Pool : 17118
Unallocated Capacity : 0.00
Physical CPU Percentage : 21.00%
Unallocated Weight : 0
Desired Virtual CPUs : 1
Desired Memory : 6144 MB
Desired Variable Capacity Weight : 190
Desired Capacity : 0.21

If the LPAR is Uncapped, it will use up to the number of Online Virtual CPUs. If it is Capped, it will use up to the Entitled Capacity or Virtual CPUs, whichever is lower. In either scenario, the Entitled Capacity is the minimal CPU the partition will get if the CPU on the physical server is maxed out.

In your example below you are guaranteed 0.21 cores and can use up to 1.0 cores worth of CPU.

The Minimum/Maximum values for CPU and Memory represent what you can change on the fly (DLPAR) without having to shut down the partition, and have no bearing on resource usage.
