Blender(voted) - last time i checked UI was polished and in very usable and workflow ready state.
GIMP - well... get UI user friendly (better in this century)!!! and start some type of online plugins hub integration.
used Krita for some simple art sketches.. could be good but not found any cool modern stuff around (like intelligent stroke brushes etc..)

Scribus for Professional Newsletters

Our local union use to spend $$$$$ to create our newsletter with MS Publisher. Over the years Scribus had its ups and downs, but now it is the only publishing application we use. It truly produces a professional newsletter.

Why the 3d applications do not have a separate poll? They have different target than Gimp, Inkscape etc..
