SalineOS

Please add SalineOS
If you like Mepis, Pardus, or Mint and you like using the XFCE desktop, this distro will impress you!

Wink

Arch all round, but, that is a personal choice, I respect the personal nature of Linux in the spirit of "to each his distro", Arch meets all my needs...

I voted Debian, but IMO, it's a SLIM advantage over Arch.

.

Granted, I use Debian (not on the main box, but on one of the ten others) here too, and the Synaptec, now that's something pretty cool. Arch, however forces the user "into it" - I used Fedora before, but I really started picking things up with Arch.

But, again, to each his distro...that's the nice thing about Linux...

Although I also use Ubuntu (for now), Puppy gets my vote. The simplicity is like a breath of fresh air.

Cool Best Desk Distro = Mandriva 2010.2

Newbie to Linux, found Mandriva 2010.2
- easy to use from install
- excellent community/web support through Wiki & forum
- auto-update pkgs available by user choice

- urpmi has saved me several times

- found it easy to have "Windows" type functionality while learning to use command line
