I try to install OpenBSD on Macbook retina (A1502) from usbstick. It starts okay,
I'm able to use keyboard in boot menu
but then:

uhub0: device problem, disabling port 1
uhub0: device problem, disabling port 3
uhub0: device problem, disabling port 5
uhub0: device problem, disabling port 12

"Intel 8 Series LPC" rev 0x04 at PCI dev 31 function0 not connected
"Intel 8 Series SMBus" rev 0x04 at PCI dev 31 function3 not connected

and then keyboard stopped working.

tried to boot -c, but i still can't use promt as keyboard does not work.

Do you know, what could possibly went wrong there?

The built-in MacBook/MacBook Pro keyboard is simply a USB keyboard (same with the trackpad), so I don't know why you'd have such a problem. The only non-internal USB devices you have connected is the USB stick?

Just to see, have tried to connect an external USB keyboard and mouse?

Yep, the only device connected is usbstick. I tried to connect an external keyboard, but it also didn't work.

I've tried i386 version instead of amd64, results are the same.

Now let's not be crazy! Have you tried Solaris or a Linux distribution?

I know this is mainly a Linux board, but Solaris is my personal favorite. You should have no problem installing that, just download it from the ORACLE/Sun website.

If you get it installed, I'll help you configure it.

I believe it's a USB 3.0 device and not sure just how complete USB 3.0 device support is in OpenBSD. Your best bet would be to ask on the mailing lists, or perhaps the daemonforums. Though going to a Linux forum for help with OpenBSD and then giving up and proclaiming that you're going to opt for an old unsupported release of MS Windows instead, probably isn't the best approach...

FreeBSD might also be an option.

In any case, if you want to run UNIX on your Mac, why don't you simply install regular Mac OS X (or macOS as they've be calling it these days)?

It's a certified as a true UNIX distribution by whatever the commission or board or whatever is. Linux is not.

Just learn to use the Terminal application in the Utilities folder under the Applications folder and you're good to go. You've got a great GUI interface, can run Microsoft Office if you need to, yet still can compile and install virtually all UNIX/Linux programs out there! Just Install Xcode for free from the app store then command-line utilities from within the preferences and you'll be good to go!

I know there are dozens of distros that work fine with mac. Say most Ubuntu users don't have too much of a trouble, and Debian even releases special CD for mac(x86 mac).
Just wanted to try OpenBSD as
a. manuals are awesome
b. disk root encryption setup seems easy, comparing to linux distributions
c. System is quite lightweight, base is only ~300m

No that was ordinary USB 2.0 device. USB 3.0 devices are not supported.
I'll install FreeBSD or Debian if there will be no way to start OpenBSD (Ubuntu/MacOS are a bit less stable).

Everything works! The installer seems to work fine if flash drive has GPT partition map instead of MBR.
