wlassistant says I don't have admin rights

I need help with wlassistant. Everytime I start it, a message displays saying that I don't have the proper admin priviledges. My user account is in the sudoers file and it's in the admin group. The message comes up even after I type my password. Also, it comes up whether i use 'sudo wlassistant' or 'kdesu wlassistant'.

Thanks for your input.

P.S. why is it that Kubuntu's install routine does not add my user to the sudoers file automatically? shouldn't that be done for me by the time I restart and start using the system?
