Upgraded hd to SATA, now dvd drives don't work well. Kubuntu Breezy
I have two DVD drives - one external LiteOn USB and one internal LG DVD Ram 2 layer.
I upgraded my hd to 250 Gb, and since only SATA was available, I bought it. I made a reinstall of Kubuntu. I installed Breezy. Previously everything was working brilliantly.
Now since the hard drive change and the fresh reinstall, the dvd drives haven't been working very well. K3B claims it has no rights to write on the USB one, even if it has been set up to have the rights. And now K3B fails about 75% of the time when writing to the other dvd drive.
I think some people have been having problems with their chipsets in relation to SATA. I wonder if the same may be happening to me. I have a VIA chipset. lspci gives me:
0000:00:00.0 Host bridge: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT8377 [KT400/KT600 AGP] Host B ridge (rev 80)
0000:00:01.0 PCI bridge: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT8237 PCI Bridge
0000:00:11.0 ISA bridge: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT8237 ISA bridge [K8T800 South]
0000:00:0f.0 IDE interface: VIA Technologies, Inc. VIA VT6420 SATA RAID Controll er (rev 80)
0000:00:0f.1 IDE interface: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT82C586A/B/VT82C686/A/B/VT82
Any advice?
