Yep, really easy. Just make sure you make a backup of your important stuff first. Then when you get into the Ubuntu installer, don't erase your windows partition.

Do you HAVE two seperate drives, or two partitions? You seem confused as to why ubuntu is seeing two drives. Are you sure that it is not seeing two partitions?
If there exist a free partition on your raid then simply install to that space. If you actually have two drives and insist on having both OS's on one, then things will get more complicated because you will need to resize your Win XP space to make room for ubuntu.
OR you could just install to your second drive and make things very simple! (thats if you DO have a second drive)
ubuntu sees 2 different hdd-s. not partitons. xp sees 1 drive which actually is raid 0. on that raid 0 i have 3 partitons for xp. how can i make ubuntu to recognise this raid 0 volume so i could make a new partitions for ubuntu. i have some unpartitioned space for that!
but ubuntu sees 2 separte drives as they are. just samsung sata 160 GB x 2. no partitons!
You can try to get ubuntu to recognize your unallocated space by formatting it as Fat32. This will also help you to see that space while your involved in the partitioning section of the installation. It's very possible that the unallocated space could be what is tricking ubuntu into seeing two drives.
It is took me some time to make it work. I think you should be able to follow the same process using the liveCD (I used one from a magazine).
Grub will install by default to MBR, but doesn't need to be there. You need to save the ubuntu.bin file as I describe in that other post, then put back the windows MBR with the XP install CD. I think you should be able to boot windows from Grub as well though if you prefer that.
