Hello all, I'm in a bit of a jam. I have been using SuSe Linux for over a year now and I must say that I'm impressed. I'm still a "newbie" though, only because I don't fool around with it as much as I want to. Anyways, I'm becoming quite frustrated and hoping that someone could help me out.
My first question: I'm still using SuSe 8.2 Personal but would like to upgrade to the latest version, if that is possible. I read a few posts from different forums and they seemed to say that it's best to buy CD's or download it. Does that mean that there isn't a way to update via Yast? I looked into Yast but didn't see anything, was cautions though as I didn't want to upset anything.
Second question: I would like to update GNOME and KDE to the latest versions but having trouble with that. I did find an informative site (
SuSe KDE update ) but when I went to the FTP site I didn't see an 8.2 folder under KDE. Why is this? Is 8.2 simply outdated? I did the same for GNOME since I seen it there but didn't see a "Yast source" folder. Does that mean that I can't upgrade to GNOME? Am I stuck with the one I have?
So these are my dilemmas, I would appreciate any help.
Thanks!
Jack
