Window Manager Config under SuSE

Hello:

I am running SuSE 9.3 Professional on my system and have a very stable KDE 3.4 and whatever is the standard Window Manager running. In an attempt to shorten what would be a rather lengthy story, I use a Macintosh running Tiger (OS X 10.4.2) day to day but always liked Linux and had another box running and SuSE installed for me relatively easily so I am running it.

I was looking at the new Enlightenment (anything newer than 2000 is new to me in Linux) and decided that I would like to use that WIndow Manager. I currently don't believe I am using any KDE apps really (though I do use the graphical file manager quite a bit), so I would like obtain the functionality, but overall get out of KDE and try out Enlightenment. Here is, of course, where the mac functionality comes in: It appears they operate off the dock like my beloved OS X and that is what really attracts me to Enlightenment.

How to switch to that Window Manager would be helpful. If I decide I like Enlightenment better I would then perhaps move to un-install KDE, but retain the libraries in case there is a App that needs it.

Advice and help here is appreciated.

"How to switch to that Window Manager would be helpful."

Since you already have Enlightment installed I think that you only have to tell YaST to make Enlightment your default window manager. Start Yast. Click on System. Click on Desktop. Click on DEFAULT_WM. Click on the down arrow and select one of the installed window managers as your default window manager.

Angry Rude

That was rude not to provide your solution here. What is the purpose of a thread when no resolution is shared. You wanted help why not share what you learned as you were asking of others?
