SuseFirewall2

Hello,

I was wondering if any knows of a way to forward a port to a machine. I am using Suse 9.1 as my router, and I would like to forward port 80 to a different machine.

Thanks for your help,

X

You will need to decide between using SuSEfirewall2 (installed by default) and another firewall. In reality, they are only programs that manipulate things like iptables.

If you use SuSEfirewall2, then you should look at the configuration file that is in /etc/sysconfig/SuSEfirewall2. It's been a while since I've looked at it, but your answer will be in there.

Do you know of any good front ends to either Susefirewall2 besides yast2 or for iptables?

Thanks for your help!

You might struggle to find an alternative front end specific to SuSE Firewall2 - although if there is one I'd be glad to know about it.

One alternative for the firewall/routing setup in general is FireStarter but I've not tried it yet.

I doubt there is another frontend to SuSEfirewall2, though it is possible. I've never heard of FireStarter, though I have a friend who swears by Shorewall (it's config files do seem a bit more versatile than SuSE's).

And brundles, your link should be to: http://www.fs-security.com/
