suse 9.3 install sais i dont have a hard drive

(sorry for the weird format, but im just pasting this from another form i asked the question at)

ya title sais it all, i go to instal suse 9.3 on my acer aspire 3000, which has two ntfs partitions on it, one with a windows xp that i was going to resize for suse, and one with a ghost image backup of the first partition. when it scans the hardisks on the setup it sais i dont have a hardrive. i tried fedora core 4 earleir as well, and it gave me about the same thing, im going to try ubuntu right now, as its the last linux os that worked on this laptop.

the laptop is a ACER Aspire AS3002LC

edit: yes ubuntu linux 5.04 has no trouble recognizing my hardrive, im going to retry fedora core 4 to give a better description of what it tells me.

edit: fedora core seemed to recognize it as well, i didnt edit the parition table with it though or boot with it, but im guna go ahead and do that now.

edit: fedora core is installed and working, seems to just be an issue with suse pro 9.3

Use a live cd to part the HDD

SUSE likes to use a partition that has not been formated and it doesn't like NTFS parts. I would use DSL 1.4 to boot and download the QTparted module then resize the NTFS part and make a new ext3 part. Then SUSE should install on the ext3 part with no problem.
