suse 10.0; first cd installs fine, others don't, cannot mount them

Hi,

I have a problem with suse 10.0 installation. CD's have MD5 ok.
The first cd installs correctly and then the system boots and demands second... but when placing cd2 in cdrom mount doesn occur. Doing it mannually in text console yields no result either.
I noticed there are no /dev/cdrom /dev/dvdrecorder or /dev/hdc devices!!!!

I also did a minimal install, requiring just cd 1 and 5 -> same thing occurred.

Anyone else has the same issues with media mounting during install?
Any workaround?

Thank you in advance.

Hello!

I had the same problem:

/dev/hda: CD-RW
/dev/hdc: DVD-RW (used for installation)

After the sucessfull install of CD#1, the DVD-RW unit disappeared (no mountpoint).

Installation from DVD was sucessfull.

Greetings

me too...

I have the same problem too...

May be in the stock kernel which is loaded after the first reboot and before asking for the second CD some drivers are missing...

What kind of chipsets do you have guys? Mine is SiS.

Hi again,

10x for the answer

May be we can try to copy cd2-cd5 on a windows partition and continue the instalation from there...

Or download the DVD image. Although I red somewhere that DVD instalation is missing
something about 450 rpm-s compared to 5 cd set instalation...

Howto: discussed somewhere else in the forum.
