startup scripts

I want to run a script that I wrote on startup.
Where can I place it so it runs after all other init scripts but before any login.

I tried boot.local which works but it runs my script before the rc level scripts which is too early.
I can't run it as a level script (eg. scriptS22). It just doesn't run in rc3.d or rc5.d for some reason.

What other options are there? Is there a file like boot.local that runs after the init scripts?

You could write your own init script based on the skeleton script. If this is a script that should run when a user logs on, then you could use /etc/profile.local.

Looking for something else, I noticed the /etc/init.d/boot.local script. This script will be executed after the other boot scripts but before the runlevel is entered. So the common boot scripts will run first. This will set up the hardware. The boot.local script will run before the init scripts however. Is it possible that it can run then?
