Some newbie questions, please help!

Just have SuSE PRO 9.3 installed, and I have some newbie questions.

1. I select GNOME during the installation progress, and the run level I set to 3(hopefully I remember correctly), so how to start the GNOME when after logging in?

2. How to shutdown my PC, I type "shutdown now", it seems just shutdown the service but not the PC, so how to turn the PC off.

3. When I use man command, I have more than one screen info, so I press space to scroll down, however at the end, I don't know what I need to press to finish viewing the help info, now matter what key I press, just give me a "BEEP", very annoying.

4. How to create a new user?

, need help. Thanks in advance!

1. Type startx in the terminal to start gnome.

2. Type halt as root

3. Type q.

4. You can do this with YaST but I haven't done it so I can't tell you how.

1. Alternatively, change the runlevel to 5, using YaST->System->Runlevel Editor
4. Use YaST->Security and users->Edit and create users->Add
or from command-line 'useradd <name>'. This will create a useraccount with the default settings (type 'useradd --show-defaults' to see the settings).

1. answered
2. shutdown -h now
is the command (-h for halt as opposed to -r = restart)
3. answered
4. answered But you might look at the command useradd (man useradd(8))
