QUERY: how to install more apps from install cds? woes :S

I just installed Open SUSE 9.3 (should be the same as normal SUSE).

Just wondering how does one add/install more programs from the SUSE CDs? I was a RedHat, Fedora Core user. I liked RH/FC Add/Remove Programs - which shows what programs you have installed, and lets you install more from the CD - in a nice GUI. Does SUSE have something like this? Note this is not using apt/synaptics/yum, etc. as those download everything from net - I just want the add/remove from the CD apps.

Also, I liked using yum/apt/synaptic and RedHats Update. I notice SUSE has a update program called YaST or something. Is there any other programs like yum/apt/synaptic and which are good and what are the differences opposed to yum/apt?

Some additional information:

YaST is the control center for the SUSE system configuration. Whenever you would like to adjust, install, update, add or remove something, have a look at YaST first.

A submodule of YaST will run updates. It is called YaST Online Update, often refered to as YOU. It helps you to install updates and bugfixes of previously installed packages. If you would like to install new packages, see Jongi's post.

You can also use APT if you are more familiar with that. There are more and mor repositories for SUSE APT. http://linux01.gwdg.de/apt4rpm/
