n00b remote control question

I recently got an ATI remote wonder, and it "works" with SUSE out of the box. Unfortunately, whenever I press a button on the remote, the system interprets it as either 2 or 4 keypresses, depending upon the button I press. At this point, only the mouse control works correctly. I need to know where I can control the settings for the remote, since it doesn't appear that SUSE is using LIRC for this (although it is installed)

I've verified that the remote will work fine with LIRC (it's preconfigured to do so using geexbox). I need to find out then either where the config file for the remote might be, or how to get it working with LIRC under SUSE (LIRC is installed, but I can't get it working with my remote, mainly because I'm a n00b.)

/etc/lircd.conf tells the system what the hardware is.

/home/username/.lircrc tells the remote what the buttons will do with an application.

The command irw and then pressing buttons on the remote will confirm that the remotes buttons are properly recognised.

If you can't find a lircrc file on the internet to control your specific applications you can create one.

The lirc website defines how to create your own file.
