mistake leading to a problem with internet

Today when i installed Suse 9.1 Professional, everything went fine except i committed one mistake.

During the process of setting up the network configuration, i selected my computer to be a standalone computer instead of a client...

Actually i am required to sign in through a client my ISP provides...

I can't install my client (which is in the form of tar.gz format).....and it has a install.sh file which has to be run.....

i checked the permissions for the file .....but to no avail....i can't install it

i tried the konsole to see what exactly happens...but that too isn't helping...

it gives some error saying that no such directory exists...i will let u know about the exact error if u require...(currently i am not at my place)....

Moreover, i can't browse my LAN.....

Initially when i had installed Suse, there used to be a Icon on my desktop for network browsing....

Can such a mistake lead to huge problems later?

May be my internet configuration too is wrong...

I need to enter my IP address,
My subnet mask,
my default gateway,
preferred DNS server,
Alternate DNS server.

sorry......

but the link just lies on my LAN server.....

But i fixed the problem.....

the problem wasn't with the modules etc.....

but my method of installation.....

as i am a newbie.... .........i have the least knowledge of command line...

But, after taking help from a local frnd,

i came to know that.....

i was missing the cd command...

and i should have installed it this way

cd /home/amit/sifybroadband/

and then ...... ./install.sh

Now, the software runs fine.....but i can't access my internet...

I now suppose that the broadband client is upgraded (only for windows)....and it takes a client ID for every computer....which is different for each and every OS....(windows, linux, unix)...

Moreover, what bout the LAN browsing?
