KDE upgrade via SPM did not go well...

Question is, how to resolve this. I can't accept that the install would be hosed (despite that being my first inclination based upon the following)...

#### YaST2 conflicts list END ###
Obviously I'm not going to remove all those packages. However to an unpractised eye such as myself, I see no way to proceed.

I'd originally found an issue as a result of trying to install a couple of packages (karamba, for example) where an error while compiling suggested a QT Plugin issue.

Moving to Yast today showed the issue was far greater (at least a wider issue).

It may be simply a matter of pointers, uh... pointing, to the wrong folder (3.4x instead of the new 3.5x). Or, it my be wishful thinking on my part.

Ideas on how to proceed?

Be sure you update your repository then try the update.

What repo are you trying to install from?

Those are my sources (in addition to a local, and the cd's, of course).

I'm not trying to install anything right now, I'm trying to resolve those dependancy issues posted above (which list upon Yast opening).

They're all set to refresh.

And, refresh or not, that dependancy conflict arises.

Also are you running 10.1 or 10.0? You have 2 repos for 10.1, the rest for 10.0

Also I don't believe any of those will upgrade KDE for you, you will have to use the KDE repos from:

http://software.opensuse.org/downloa...SE_Linux_10.0/
http://software.opensuse.org/downloa...SE_Linux_10.1/

(For 10.0 and 10.1 respectively.)

I've not made myself clear, apologies....

I've already upgraded KDE, and the above is the result.
Running 10.0

The system runs, but, any install since has resulted in this...

Quote:
If you did install kdelibs, then the Qt version that is picked up by
this configure is not the same version you used to compile kdelibs.
The Qt Plugin installed by kdelibs is *ONLY* loadable if it is the
_same Qt version_, compiled with the _same compiler_ and the same Qt
configuration settings.
and during troubleshooting, I ran in to the lengthly list above.

Hope that helps clear it up, again, apologies for the confusion.

Strange, try "updating" the kdelibs installation, and also what version of qt do you have installed?

Also, be sure to remove the 10.1 repo, also what method did you use for upgrade? YaST or Compile from source / install from RPM?

I have no clue how to deal with kdelibs.
I have no idea about qt.

I used SPM (smart package manager) as I said in the title.

repo removed...

Please, I'm a relative n00b, and really haven't a clue how to do the above. I just started SPM, picked everything I could see that had KDE 3.5x (as I was running 3.4.2) and went from there. Obviously not the brightest of ideas, but, live and learn (which is what I want to do here).

Went at it from another way (probably the way I should have started with eh).
I tried via 'system update' rather than managing 'software management'. Quite a lot to download and install, but, it seems to have sorted out!

No dependancy errors!

Of the sites I posted on for help in this matter, this is the only site where someone responded, and you, are the only one to have helped... for that I am grateful, thanks.

/me tosses a wobbly pop your way...

No problem. I if you tried it in SMART after getting rid of the 10.1 repo, it may have worked also.

But oh well.. glad all are done.
