Installed suse...ran Yast Update...now a kernel panic?

After installing the latest kernel update through yast on SuSE 9.2, the new kernels panics while booting with the message "VFS: unable to mount root fs".

Wierd...what could have caused this and how can I fix it?

Okay, the exact error WAS "kernel panic - not syncing: UFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(3.6)"

Anyway, I ran the installation CD, and chose repair system...that indeed fixed it.

Odd though?
