How do I add KDE to SUSE10?
I've downloaded the 64-bit version of SUSE10 and installed it with the GNOME desktop via DVD. I would like to add KDE as a desktop, too. Can someone point me to how this is done?
Thanks much.

And also the shut down screen only gives you log off.
REDDAZZ - Where can I get the thing you have on your screen?
The monitor is a superkaramba theme available from kde-look.org. The launch button is a kbfx button I got from kde-look.org and modified it to grayscale so that it would fit in with the grey/black color scheme on my desktop.

I have superkaramba, but I do not have the style you have. I have been looking for it and can't find.
I think the one you have is perfect.
I've tried SuperMonitor, Aero, and a few others, but none compare to the style you are currently using.
Did you get that one from KDE-Look or from the superkaramba list?

Reddazz and EclipseAgent thanks very much for the information. I used Yast to install just about everything referring to KDE. I do see that I now have a number of apps that I didn't have before. As far as changing the My computer link to media:/ I'm afraid I have to plead newbie. Once again could you point me in the right direction. I do have an icon on my desktop called Computer. I am still in the GNOME desktop. Thanks again.

The easy way to get to the KDE desktop is at the login screen click Sessions and change it to KDE.
As for the media:/ thing you will see. When you try to click on My Computer it will do nothing. Right click it, Properties, then URL it should probably say device:/ change that to media:/

Unfortunately, this computer has been set up to bypass login and go right to the desktop. I'm the only one who uses it so there wasn't a security problem. I don't see Sessions at all. I'm sure there must be a way to change matters so that I have to give a password. Perhaps that is what I'll have to do. Thanks much for your help.

Or you can end the current session. That should then bring you to a log in, just in case you needed to log in as root.
There is always a way to get back into the "Login Screen".

EclipseAgent - now things are beginning to make sense. I was able to end the session, although in the GNOME Desktop it didn't say end session. It was stated differently. Once I did, I was given the option to chose a different desktop - I did. In GNOME the Desktop icon shows Computer - in KDE it shows My Computer. When I right click it a properties screen comes up with three tabs: General, Permissions and URL. The URL tab shows drives:/ My screen real estate also seems to be quite reduced. What I see is centered and there is about 1/5 less information shown on the GUI. Very strange. I rebooted and came up in KDE - full screen. Nice. Thanks very much. It's great when things begin to come together.
