Hardware requirements for 10.1

Hi Everyone,

Quick question I was not able to answer for a friend of mine, nor find anything on the SuSe home page. This friend has a PIII 1GHz with 512 of ram and wants to install Suse 10.1 (wants XGL for some reason). I couldnīt find anything that would tell me if this hardware is sufficient to run 10.1. Can anyone advise?

Thanks

Bob

I'm sure that will run it just fine.
Distros don't really have minimum requirements per se. It's more the programs and environment you intend on running that determine your needed specs.

If he wants to run the latest and greatest desktop environments (like KDE), then that might be a little sluggish.

Thank you for your reply..
I asked because I thought that it might not handle the graphics and run with any kind of usable speed (though he does have an FX5200 nVidia card with 256mb). I guess I will go ahead and download it for him. Worth a shot, anyway.

Thank you for your help

Bob
