Depending on whether you are more of a GUI or of a command-line type of user... Nothing beats mutt if you ask me.

Hi,

I think it depends on what you mean by "better".
Mutt and Pine are examples of very powerfull text based email clients, but both can be rather difficult to configure (though Pine is more user friendly).
Furthermore, you usually end up configuring other programs as well, like procmail, postfix, sendmail, etc,
Programs like Evolution and Thunderbird are more like what Windows users are used to in terms of how you configure and use them.
In addition to above suggestions, you could try Sylpheed which is another popular and fast email client with GUI.
