editing ifcfg-wlan0 (WG111v2 usb)

hi all, i am trying to get what i have already achieved here in knoppix to work under suse, but things are a little different.

in knoppix/debian, i was editing an interfaces txt file and it seems under suse i can set the same parameters under /etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-wlan0

but i don't know the syntax or what variables i can set here. can anyone point me towards a resource / example file? i am googling, but little joy so far...

i want to set ip, subnet mask, gateway, dns1 and dns2...

i have been using yast, but it doesnt seem to be working and i'm not so clear exactly what i am doing (although the gui is a beaut! lol). last time i got locked out of my machine using it, 'cos the wlan0 was auto loading and hanging forever.

i think i'd like to try and edit this myself.

i have used ndiswrapper to convert my windows .inf file

when i log in i type:

modprobe ndiswrapper
iwconfig wlan0 essid NETGEAR
iwconfig wlan0 key open xxxxxxxxxx

at this point i can ping 127.0.0.1 and my own ip address, but not the default gateway...

any clues appreciated ?

cheers,

dan
