xv's wait not working for other values than 1

Hi fellow Slackers ...

After my upgrade to 12 I'm seeing one issue that does
bug me. Xv's slide-show feature doesn't seem to work
anymore (I use it embedded in xscreensaver for a slide-
show of pix). I used to slide images every 8 seconds.
Now (and also stand-alone, from command-line), the only
value that seems to make the pictures proceed in the
slide-show, is 1 ... one second. Not good, too fast,
no fun to look at.

Has anyone else encountered that issue, is it limited
to my install? And should you have encountered it - how
did you fix the problem? :}

Cheers,
Tink

Same problem here. You should probably report the issue to Volkerding.

Code:
xv -maxpect -rmode 5 -random -viewonly -wloop -wait 8 p6101693.jpg p6101696.jpg p6101699.jpg
Of course your images may be named differently ;}

-wait 8 meaning wait for 8 seconds ... and the only value that works is 1

Hi Tink

Here are some [possibly useless] observations on your problem.

I built my XV 3.10a on a previous version of Slack (10.1 I think) when checkinstall was working reliably.
The reason I did that was because I needed to apply the PNG+CRW patch to look at my raw camera files.
Because I was lazy, I just replaced the /usr/bin/xv executable in Slack 12 with the one from my previous system, and it works fine (XV is still my favourite image viewer).

When I run your command in a console

xv -maxpect -rmode 5 -random -viewonly -wloop -wait 8 some.jpg another.jpg another1.jpg

nothing happens, but if I remove the "-rmode 5" option, it works (it waits for 8 anyway)

so, I would first try building your own package from source.
If you want to play with the xv executable that I built, I would be more than happy to send it to you...
I don't think the patch I applied is relevant, I was just explaining what I did.

Hmmmm ... using the slackware provided version taking the rmode out
doesn't change the bahaviour ... I think that I should really notify
Pat about this (taking the risk that he removes Xv?) ....
