Angry Wireless mouse scroll wheel works, but left and right click doesn't?

I had problems with my wireless microsoft mouse under slackware 10. At first, it wouldn't move anywhere. After I read some of the posts on this site, I changed my xorg.conf file to:

Option "Device" "/dev/input/mice"
Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"
Option "ZAxis Mapping" "4 5"
Option "Buttons" "5"

This worked for many of the people whose posts I read. However, my left and right click buttons do not work even though the scroll wheel does. I also edited /etc/rc.d/rc.modules and enabled all of the USB modules. I still can't get it to work correctly. Will I have to recompile the kernel (yikes!), or is there anything that I am missing that could be leading to this odd problem?
Thanks in advance,
John.

Try changing buttons to 7 instead of 5, I think that is what helped me.
