What package have I not re-installed?
My laptop has been running an up to date current ("almost-beta") happily, but I decided to fit a bigger disk drive. I backed up all my data, and before I removed the old drive, I created a set of tagfiles with "tagfile-generator.sh" to speed up the re-installation.
The re-install appeared to go smoothly until I tried to set up the network! As this is a laptop, I use network manager to handle the connections, but my machine reports that network manager is not running. Trying to start it using "/etc/rc.d/rc.networkmanager start" gives an error message at line 25 "pgrep: command not found" followed by a message that dbus must be running to get networkmanager to start.
Looking through rc.networkmanager, it appears to be the pgrep command that tells it whether dbus is running or not. I conclude that dbus probably is running (I suspect the system would be dead if it wasn't!) but that pgrep is not installed. I also seem to be missing the "killall" command as well as "ps".
I think I must have missed a package out (or one has been changed, and the tagfile generator didn't pick it up) when I re-installed. But which one?
All suggestions gratefully received!
(And yes, I know! I shouldn't have tried to take a short cut......!!!)
