Vuze doesn't see flashplayer 9.0.124.0 on Slackware 12.1

I'm having a problem viewing the live media content on Vuze. I can download them and play them, but if I want to view them live (sneak preview), it states that Flash Player needs to be installed. I have Flash Player version 9.0.124.0 installed (via Slackbuild.org). Is there a way that I can make Vuze see the flashplayer software in Slackware 12.1. Perhaps connect mplayer to stream the live media content? I'm using Vuze 3.0.5.2.

I asked this question on the Vuze forums but, so far no one has responded.

Best regards

Did you install the standalone or plugin flash package? I know azureus checks for MOZZILA_FIVE_HOME on startup so it's possible it's looking for/uses the plugin...

Actually...I have both the standalone and the plugin both via Slackbuilds.org.

Best regards

Not sure. I just watched the clone wars sample clip and it plays just fine. You can try starting azureus from the prompt and look for any output that may explain why it's not playing for you...

You also might want to check the URL
Code:
about:plugins
in firefox to see if flash is listed there.

When I do the command:

$ echo $MOZILLA_FIVE_HOME

I get nothing. Do I have to do this?

$ MOZILLA_FIVE_HOME=/usr/lib/mozilla
$ export MOZILLA_FIVE_HOME

And yes, the plugins are listed in /usr/lib/mozilla.

I installed Vuze in /home/xxx. Could it be some kind of permission problem?

Okay. I did that and the results look interesting:

Browser check failed with: No more handles [Unknown Mozilla path (MOZILLA_FIVE_HOME not set)], Invocat
ionTargetException
Auto-scanning for GRE/XULRunner. You can skip this by appending the GRE path to LD_LIBRARY_PATH and s
etting MOZILLA_FIVE_HOME.
checking /usr/lib/seamonkey-1.1.9 for GRE
GRE found at /usr/lib/seamonkey-1.1.9.
setting LD_LIBRARY_PATH to: /usr/lib/seamonkey-1.1.9
setting MOZILLA_FIVE_HOME to: /usr/lib/seamonkey-1.1.9

It seems like it's connecting MOZILLA_FIVE_HOME to /usr/lib/seamonkey-1.1.9.

Now if I could figure out what to do with this info...

It's not necessary to export those 2 variables because azureus always seems to find them. I do it anyway in a /etc/profile.d/firefox.sh script.

What does /usr/lib/seamonkey/plugins have in it? The flash plugin? I don't use the slackbuild.org scripts so I don't know what they do. Probably dumps them in /usr/lib/mozilla and hopes everything will find them.

The more proper way is to install the flash plugin directly to your browsers main 'plugin' directory.

Try that. If the flash plugin is there then I might be a little stumped.

That did it!!! Thanks! Thanks! Thanks!!! I copied libflashplayer.so from /usr/lib/mozilla and pasted it in seamonkey's plugin directory and it works.

I am a happy camper!.....Until the next challenge clobbers me

Best regards

Yea... I wish people would quit using that bunk directory. Properly written applications will always do a browser check and find what it needs there. I have a borderline hatred for /usr/lib/mozilla so I'll quit while I'm ahead...

Glad it's working.
