Slack 14.0 KDE4 korganizer doesn't display imported calender events

Greetings,
I am near the end of migrating from Slack 12.2 to Slack 14.0. however, I am having difficulty importing my KDE3 korganizer calender data into the KDE4 version. I exported the KDE3 icalout.ics and vcalout.vcs data files and the KDE4 korganizer doesn't complain about either one when I import it, but the resulting calender does not have any of the calender event information. I checked the “~/.kde/share/apps/korganizer/std.ics” file after importation and the event information appears to be in that file, but it doesn't seem to be processed.

Thinking it may be a caching problem, I shut down and re-booted, but the result is the same.

Is there something I missed and can do to get this information to display properly without re-entering all my data again, with possible errors?

Thanks in advance.

Girvin:

Did your ~/.kde directory remain during this upgrade from the previous version, or...
was /home on it's own partition during this upgrade process?
Is the ~/.kde directory an "artifact" from Slackware12.2?

If it's not, then I don't know.
If it is, the I would try shutting down the korganizer program and temporarily mv'ing the korganizerrcc and
std.ics files to backup with
Code:
mv ~/.kde/share/config/korganizerrc ~/.kde/share/config/korganizerrc.org
mv ~/.kde/share/apps/korganizer/std.ics ~/.kde/share/apps/korganizer/std.ics.org
and fire up korganizer and do the import again.

Worse case scenario is you have to put them back.

Here's my korganizerrc file contents:
Code:
cat ~/.kde/share/config/korganizerrc
[$Version]
update_info=korganizer.upd:korganizer_3.4_GroupwareCleanup,korganizer.upd:korganizer_3.4_WebExport,korganizer.upd:korganizer_3.4_FilterAction,korganizer.upd:korganizer_3.4_HolidayPlugin,korganizer.upd:korganizer_4.3_ShowTodos,korganizer.upd:korganizer_4.4_MoveFreeBusy
Code:
korganizer --version
Qt: 4.8.2
KDE Development Platform: 4.8.5 (4.8.5)
KOrganizer: 4.8.5
I have never used the program so those should be "clean" or nearly default values.

Please let us know...

Habitual,
Thanks for the prompt reply.
No, I started out with a new hard drive and there was no contamination from my S12.2 system.
I tried renaming the files as you suggested and did the import again with the same results. I did merge my calendar import into the existing default "Personal" calendar. I did notice that even after I renamed the two files, korganizer still came up with the second calendar I created and tried yesterday to no avail. So, there is still some configuration data in there somewhere other than this rc file.

My korganizerrc file is a lot different from yours. Below are the version before I renamed it, and then the version after I restarted it before the import.

Note that there are two other rc files: korganizer-printing.rc and korganizer-mobilerc.

Is it possible that there is some sort of date format problem between the old korganizer export and the new korganizer?
That could be a problem - no matching dates.

I use korganizer extensively for my scheduling. That is why I need my old data in it.

Thanks in advance.
Girvin Herr

Girvin:

I fired up ko and poked around.

I then imported my Rainlendar.ics file into ko and no error, but no data either, or so I thought, until I checked the std.ics
checkbox shown in the attachment, so I have to ask, have you done so as well?

My Rainlendar data showed up immediately when I did so.

Please use the [code][/code] markup around code in your replies. It keeps things nice and neat.
Thanks.

Please let us know...

JJ

Bingo!
That was it! My checkbox was greyed out, so I didn't even consider checking it and the help did not mention it. Real intuitive there.

Thanks much "Habitual" (JJ), you have made my day.

I have seen the code /code used before on this forum, but I was not sure what the context was. You have enlightened me.

Thanks again.
Girvin herr

Now where is that button to mark this thread as solved...
