Thanks to OP for posting the slackbuilds. I've created my own slackbuilds for -current and I have pidgin built with audio/video support but haven't tested it. I think you also need slackbuild for gst-plugins-farsight. Here's what I've installed on current.
libnice
gst-plugins-farsight
farsight2 (built with --disable-python, this is because I don't want gst-python)
pidgin
I have updated my pidgin slackbuild a few days ago so you might want to try that. In the latest version you can play with voice/video options in the plugins dialog.
it installed correctly with video & voice enabled.
still I am getting this error while trying to make a call:
Quote:
22:05
(10:09:13 PM) Error creating session: Could not create the valve element
(10:09:13 PM) Error adding stream.
(10:09:13 PM) The call has been terminated.
I think some settings are missed by me for devices either webcam or mic and speaker.
Note:
1. gst-plugins-farsight is obsolete now and the library has been merged into gst-plugins-bad.
2. I cannot assure whether the versions of ffmpeg , x264, speex present in debian repository work properly with it because, on my system, I have all the codecs updated till Jan 1 , 2010. Please someone else confirm it.
I received this error while installing gst-gnome-vfs (0.10.23) from slackbuilds on my slack64-current.

reinstalled all the packages from slackbuilds.org in suggested order.
the main issue remained was for farsight2 due to gst-python.
then came recent update about src2pkg for rescue (in some other post on LQ) and utilized that, well used first time src2pkg for gst-python. may be there is some more sane way of doing all this either, but i got this way.
