Thank you for all your hard work, and thank you to everyone who has helped you over the years. You've made the last 9 years of my computing a pleasure.

Cheers for 20 years of a great project, the best Linux distribution out there, and lots of hard work! Thanks for everything Pat!

Thank you so much Patrick for continuing to maintain my favourite operating system. Cheers from Northern BC, Canada. :)

It's hard to believe, but it's been 20 years since this post. The first release (along with the first public mention of the name) followed 6 days later. I think I can safely say that a lot more people turned out to be interested in this than anticipated. :) Cheers!

The love of my life walked out on me on July 11th 1993. Funny how it goes. :)

I would say there's quite a bit of personal satisfaction in maintaining Slackware but has it grown over those two decades to become financially rewarding? Enough to keep a family?

Best of luck for the next 20 years to you.

Happy Anniversary, Patrick! You showed me the way and it's where I'll stay!

Wow! 20 years on and interest in Slackware still kills boxes. http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...ne-4175466948/

Shall we tell 'she who cannot be named' of the most excellent and remarkable achievement that interest in Slackware is keeping pace with Moore's law?

Thanks Pat for the Amazing distro. Hope to see 20 more years :)

Slackware has been my "Linux" since 1995. I've never regretted that choice.
Thanks, Patrick. I hope you're up for another 20 years.

Darned - I have used slackware (on and off admittedly) since spring '96 ... beaten by a year!!
Happy anniversary Pat!
Just keep'em rolling and I'll be a more than happy recipient!

This is the part that gets me. I don't think I've ever heard Slackware called bloated.

It was commonly accused of being bloated on USENET for the first 3 or so years. Makes me shake my head now...

Thank you for years of wonderful work.

My only distro for the last 13 years (and my daughter's, who's about to turn 13).

All the best for the next 20.

Wow, 20 years . . . that's really amazing.

It kind of makes me wonder a bit about the bigger picture. What would the world be like without Slackware? I mean, I'm sure the consequences of that original project extended way beyond the obvious. It has the makings of an alternative history novel. Scary stuff! :)

Thank you Pat for all you have done, and continue to do! I believe the world is richer for it.
