Don't get me wrong but Slackware is kinda "bloated"

Lesson learned.
Thanks for your post Kknvk!
It's good to hear of others with similar experiences.
Arch broke quite badly for me about 5 weeks ago now many days of futzing and restoring, reinstalling etc didn't bring it back. I re-install every days to see if what won't let the computer wake from sleep has been resolved and no love. Centos is it's replacement it's VERY rigid but well thought out and uses Gnome 2 which I like a great deal. I post in the Slackware section because this is the most active section on the board and it's not like I've not used it, it was actually the first replacement for my Arch. I'll try again on Tuesday to see if it my arch comes back to life but I really think something in the systemd update just doesn't like my old school computer
This is the Slackware Forum and users will be slanted towards such. Your post is not contributing but I expect something like this from you by example of your past posting(s) style. Expect users in Slackware forum to be slanted towards Slackware.
There is nothing wrong with members of this forum posting positive constructive posts to this thread. Expected and required by LQ Rules when posting to any thread to be constructive and contributing to the thread. Something you did not do with your fanboy post. So please in the future do not post when you have nothing to contribute.
I'm glad Slackware is 'bloated' (which it is not) and has so many different packages of similar genres. It made me discover software I wouldn't have found out about on my own. Even if I don't use all of it, things like the soma player amused and entertained me more than once. I found Krita, which I actually became a contributor of. Palapeli filled the first evening of using Slackware with fun ...puzzling together naughty pictures. Laughing hard at the flaming Dobbshead in the xscreensaver packages. Learned Vim while using Mousepad on the side. All those DEs and WMs that were so easy to set and use (and the simplicity of simply copying xinit entries into the home directory when one chooses an environment with the command line tool impressed me). Slackware made me a full time Linux user and the only way anyone can get me to use Windows now is by paying me.
OP may call it bloat (which, again, it is not) I call it "more to love".

Arch and CentOS are two extremely opposite philosophies. Bleeding edge vs. enterprise-class stable. I have used both and know them quite well actually. In my humble opinion, you should give Slackware a spin, since it combines the best of both worlds: stability as well as recent software without any nasty suprises. And if you like GNOME 2 (which is what I've been using for years under CentOS), you'll be pleasantly surprised by Willy Sudiarto's and Chess Griffin's MATE desktop (http://mateslackbuilds.github.io/). It's as crisp and clean as GNOME2 on CentOS 4.x, 5.x and 6.x.
