Can't get Brother HL2070N ppd to work with cups

Searched the forum but nothing found.

I installed the Brother HL2070N PPD per instructions at linuxprintingdotorg which were to copy the ppd (which I got off of the Brother Cd I have) to /usr/share/cups/models and then restarted CUPS but this printer does not show up.

Anyone dealt with this before?

thanks, ron

I'm not sure if you can use the ppd file straight from your CD. I would check out a ppd from linuxprinting.org instead: http://linuxprinting.org/show_driver...other-HL-2070N

Thanks for the reply and you may be correct. I'll try some other ppd drivers since I could not find any for the 2070n available via linuxprinting.org. The Brother site states that the ppd on their cd does work with CUPS but obviously not for me.

You were right. I installed the HL2060(no HL2070)PPD from linuxprinting.org and it registered in CUPS and works fine. This PPD came from the link you provided which contains PPD's that are modified from the original.

Thanks again.
