scantv - "no stations" tv tuner trouble

Hi I recently purchased a KWorld KW-TV878RF PRO TV tuner (BT 878). My Mandrake 9.1 seems to detect it ok, but when I try scantv, it gives "no stations" to all of my channel. I tried configuring in X using DrakeTV. I tried XawTV as well, nothing but static.

I also have another TV tuner I tried (don't know the name), but it is also BT878, and it didn't work either.

So I bought an ATI TV VE, that seems to work ok.

Does anyone know why? Please help.

I noticed that KW-TV878RF is listed in the BTTV CARDLIST file. I'm in the NTSC US_Broadcast area. There's nothing in my modules.conf file that has to do with the TV tuner config.

TIA

you may need to read through the /usr/src/linux/Documentation/video and look for the bttv stuff - read up on your card and see if you need to pass a 'tuner=' option to the bttv module.

Yup, that solved it. I had to go through the card one by one until I find the correct one.

Thanks.

I selected the KWorld 878RF card, and NTSC tuner in the settings list. I use Mandrake 9.1.

I'm not sure exactly which model your KWorld tv tuner card is. If that doesn't work, just go through each one at a time, one by one, until it works for you.

That's what I ended up doing.

I also have a Kworld card. I use card=78 and works fine. However, mine is on Pal, not ntsc

here's the line in modules.conf
Code:
options bttv radio=1 card=78 tuner=5 gbuffers=4
You may need to change tuner= so it will be ntsc

Thanx!!! Ive already found the solution... I believe more than that it was a problem in mandrake update and autodetect for the cards tuner...
Surfing the web I found this wonder full tool:

http://www.mind.lu/~yg/ftvco/

which solved my problem, trying a multiple set of options until it actually worked!!!
Thanx for helping!!!
